It looks like CinemaBlend’s resident ranter Mack Rawden isn’t going to run short of time-travel inconsistencies to irritate him anytime soon. The Wrap reports that Friends co-creator Marta Kaufman is adapting The Time Traveler’s Wife into a TV series for ABC and Warner Bros. Television.

The series will be based on Audrey Niffenegger’s 2003 novel, and of course the movie version starring Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams is in theaters as we speak, having pulled in around $20 million so far. However, The Wrap says that ABC has actually been developing the property for quite some time with Kaufman, who will write and exec produce the pilot.

ABC apparently thinks the novel is rich and complex enough to support an ongoing series, but without having read the book I’m not sure I see this being sustainable in the long term. Now a sitcom version where the time-traveling husband vanishes at inopportune times, leaving his poor wife to clean up the mess? That I might watch.
