American Horror Story: Coven Gets Creepy Pin-poked Teaser And Posters
Earlier today, we got a look at Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett in costume for their roles as rivals in American Horror Story: Coven, and now FX has offered up some dark and twisty new artwork and a teaser to go with it. The teaser above is a little bit similar to the previous pins and needles video, except this one shows smaller pins moving out of the body and limbs of a breathing figure who's hunched over with their arms crossed in front of them. The video comes with the caption, "This fall, experience our pleasure pain." Yeah, that seems about right.
In addition to the above teaser, we also have the image in poster form. It's actually a bit less unsettling to look at as a poster, which I think is due to the lack of pin-moving and heavy breathing...
And this other one is actually sort of beautiful, if you can get past the pins. I love how the light is used to show off the contours of the figure.
This season of American Horror Story: Coven will be focused on witches, both voodoo and Salem in origin. In addition to the photos we shared earlier, we also got some exciting details about the plot of the the third season, including some interesting information about a school for witches in New Orleans, a Tulane fraternity that factors in somehow, and a centuries-old rivalry between the Salem witches and the voodoo witches. We also learned that Kathy Bates' character is known for torturing slaves, and using their blood as wrinkle cream. Angela Bassett's character, meanwhile, is said to be a voodoo queen. Is it the kind of voodoo that involves sticking pins in dolls?
In addition to Bates and Bassett, American Horror Story: Coven will also feature Jessica Lange and Sarah Pauslon as mother and daughter witches Fiona Goode and Cordelia respectively. Taisa Farmiga, Emma Roberts, Gabourey Sidibe and Jamie Brewer as the four student witches. Evan Peters will play Kyle, a Tulane frat brother who takes a liking to Farmiga's Zoe. Farmiga and Peters were teamed up for a dark romance in the first season of American Horror Story. Also a part of the cast this season are Lily Rabe and Frances Conroy, both of whom appeared previously on the series, and AHS newcomer Patti LuPone.
American Horror Story: Coven will return October 9 to FX.
