Law & Order: Special Victims Unit has some blasts from the past set to guest star in an upcoming episode of the series. It was announced today that Jaclyn Smith and Ann-Margaret have both been signed on to appear in the show this season.

TV Guide posted the news, stating that Smith, who is well known for her role in Charlie’s Angels (the series, not the movies!) will play a retired cop who works for Benson and Stabler to solve an old crime. This, according to Exec producer Neal Baer.

As for Ann-Margaret, whom you may remember from her numerous film roles, including Bye Bye Birdie, Viva Las Vegas or relatively more recently, Newsies, Grumpy Old Men and Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, will be playing an actress who was a star of commercials made back in the ‘70s.

The episode is set to air on March 31st and will also star Morgan Fairchild, Susan Anton, William Atherton and Renee Taylor. Of the episode, Baer says “It’s this bevy of great actresses.” Given the names we just mentioned, I’d have to agree!

Kelly put her life-long love of movies, TV and books to greater use when she joined CinemaBlend as a freelance TV news writer in 2006, and went on to serve as the site’s TV Editor before joining the staff full-time in 2011 and moving over to other roles at the site. At present, she’s an Assistant Managing Editor who spends much of her time brainstorming and editing features, analyzing site data, working with writers and editors on content planning and the workflow, and (of course) continuing to obsess over the best movies and TV shows (those that already exist, and the many on the way).
