Bruce Jenner's Docuseries Will Have Lighthearted Moments, Too

Following Bruce Jenner’s heartfelt interview with Diane Sawyer on 20/20, the former Olympian is ready to embark on a brand new chapter. We’ve known for a while that he has a new reality series in the works over at E!, but this week, further details about Jenner’s brand new project have been revealed.

Jenner’s transition from a man to a woman has felt like a serious and eye-opening coming out so far. Jenner was pretty open about the troubling nature of feeling like he had to hide his true identity for so many years during the interview with Sawyer. While those connected to the athlete’s new series say that the goal of the E! unscripted program is to both educate those new to transgender realities as well as to provide “hope and inspiration” for those in the community, it’s also going to be a fun and amusing program, too.

Not all of the challenges people face while changing genders are emotional or educational. According to TMZ, an episode of the new series will focus on Bruce’s golf game, and how the athlete has to readjust to golfing with a brand new pair of breasts. Bruce has a sense of humor about the whole thing, and it wouldn’t make for good reality TV without a large dose of that humor.

Bruce Jenner should already have the reality series thing down pat. The reality star has been a part of Keeping up with the Kardashians over the years, and that show has produced more than 100 episodes, so Jenner should basically have the format down. If it’s anything like Keeping Up, Jenner’s new show will likely have plenty of drama drama, peppered with humorous situations. We’ll leave you to decide whether or not any of them are actually scripted.

Jenner’s big announcement to Diane Sawyer has received a lot of media attention, including encouraging notes from a slew of celebrities. With all of the notice, now is a great time for Jenner to branch out into his own half hour timeslot. We won’t have long to wait. E! has already announced that the as-yet untitled docuseries following Bruce Jenner’s transgender transformation will hit the schedule on July 26 at 9 p.m. ET. It'll likely put up big numbers initially too. Interest in his recent interview was huge, and given how sympathetic he came off, many people will likely follow his progress over at E!. Therefore, if the network can put together an entertaining show, it'll likely be a big hit.

In the meantime, you can catch the full 20/20 interview with Bruce Jenner over at ABC’s site.
