The Carrie Diaries Trailer Introduces Us To Young Carrie Bradshaw In The 80s
Earlier today, we shared some details and photos for the upcoming Sex and the City prequel series The Carrie Diaries. And now we have a preview to show you. The CW released a trailer for the 80s-set drama, which focuses on Carrie Bradshaw in her teen years, when she was in high school and also working in New York City.
The preview features a voiceover by AnnaSophia Robb's Carrie Bradshaw as she introduces us to her life as it is in 1984, just after her mother passed away. She gets the opportunity to do an internship in New York City and that takes her straight into the heart of (80s!) fashion. As we know from Sex and the City, Carrie does love fashion. Check out the preview below, which clocks in at nearly three minutes and gives us a look at the story set to be told.
The parts where we see Carrie trying to juggle high school and New York City inspire a major Jane By Design flashback, but the emphasis on sex and her friends seem a bit more mature than the short-lived ABC Family drama. That may nudge it a bit closer to the HBO series, which was also based on a Candace Bushnell book. The familiarity of the lead character may get viewers to tune in, plus there's the added appeal of the 80s setting, which should set The Carrie Diaries apart from past CW dramas.
Check out the new promotional photos and get some information on the characters here.
The Carrie Diaries premieres January 2013 on The CW.
