TV Recap: Pushing Daisies - The Norwegians

Things at the Pie Hole are beyond crazy this week, and damn, it breaks my heart that this show won’t be with us much longer. NBC, CBS,ANYONE, I implore you, please pick up this show!!! ABC is making a huge mistake, please pick up their slack!

So, as a quick recap, a couple of weeks ago you will remember that Chuck and Ned woke Chuck’s dad to get the skinny on Dwight Dixon. In a sudden twist, Chuck decided to keep her dad alive, and whilst this decision did save both her and Ned from certain death at the hands of Mr. Dixon – it also opened up a whole new can of worms.

Chuck’s dad – Mr. Charles Charles – is nothing less than a handful. He’s bossy, controlling, and loves his daughter. He also hates Ned. He forces Chuck to choose between him and Ned, and runs off in Ned’s car when she doesn’t choose him.

You will also remember that Dwight Dixon died when Chuck’s dad stayed alive. His body is currently occupying the spot formerly occupied by Charles Charles – and he was placed there by Emerson and Chuck.

So, when Chuck’s aunt Vivian decides that she needs to know what happened to her gentleman caller (that’d be Dwight) – she tries to hire Emerson to find him. She has an amazing drawing of Dwight in a Rose Dawson pose (that’s from Titanic for you non-romantics). Emerson blows her off with a story about men being dogs, and tells her that Dwight simply left town to find a more loose woman. She isn’t buying it – so she hires the other investigative team in town.

Yeah, I didn’t know there was another team either. But, here they are and they are like a Bizarr-o Norwegian version of the Pie Team. The Norwegian Investigative Team is comprised of Magnus, and . They were the number 1 crime team in Norway, until they’d solved so many crimes that crime was nearly non-existent. So, they head to the murder capital of the world – Coeur de Coeur.

The Norwegians are feeling a little bummed because Emerson gets the scoop on them all of the time. They are super into forensic evidence, and are at a loss as to how Emerson gets ‘em every time. They are bound and determined to be on top this time around – and they’ve got the Pie Team shakin’ in their boots.

Olive is ticked at the group, because they will only tell her part of the story. They expect her to shut her mouth and do their bidding, while they get what they need and she is left in the dark. In a strange turn of events, she encourages Vivian to pursue her search, AND joins the Norwegian team (who only accepts her because her DNA proves her to be Norwegian).

After several odd events, we find out that the Norwegians are going to exhume both Chuck and her Dad. Of course, this raises all kinds of crazy issues – the least of which that Dwight Dixon’s body is IN Charles Charles coffin!

The exhumation takes place, and both coffins are empty. That’s right. So who the freak dug up the grave again?

Emerson Cod creates a diversion by “confessing” a bunch of stuff to the crack Norwegian team, and Ned tries to hijack their “mother” (an RV converted to crime lab). Olive is inside, and she confesses that she joined the enemy to implode their investigation from the inside. She gives Ned the key and they drive off into the night. The Norwegians realize what’s going on and run after them. Ned and Olive drive “Mother” off a cliff, and are literally hanging by a branch when a mysterious gloved hand saves them.

Oh yeah, and Ned admits to Olive that he has looked at Olive the way he looks at Chuck in the past. Hmmm…

Emerson invites Vivian over to smooth things over with her. He tells her that both coffins were empty, and implies that Dwight stole both of the bodies. He thinly veils the facts by telling her that the Charlotte she knew wasn’t in the grave, and that she’s right there with her. He says her niece was not stolen from the grave. Hey, he is telling the truth!

Olive puts the pieces together and she realizes that Chuck’s dad was the one who saved Olive and Ned. Olive begs for the truth, but they still dangle her. Poor Olive, they STILL won’t clue her in.

The Norwegians storm in and bully Olive for killing their “Mother”. She implies that a group of Swedish thugs did it, but the investigation is interrupted when Dwight Dixon’s credit card is used to check into the motel. They ALL get there, and Dwight is dead on the bed.

The Norwegians decide he died of natural causes because of a lack of trauma, and the planted evidence that pointed to him being a seasoned grave robber. A can of gas implies that the two missing bodies were burned.

Chuck decides that her dad is their new guardian angel, and Ned decides that he isn’t touching dead things anymore. He begins by using fresh fruit in the pies.

Just as the show ends, we find out that it was NOT Chuck’s dad who cleaned up the Dwight Dixon mess – it was in fact – NED’s DAD!

What!?!
