Seth Rogen Fires Back At Film Critic Who Blames Neighbors For Isla Vista Crimes Seth Rogen Fires Back At Film Critic Who Blames Neighbors For Isla Vista Crimes
Ann Hornaday makes a larger point about the absence of female voices in the filmmaking community and the studio system. Which is a larger problem, but not one that easily connects to despicable crimes like the one in Isla Vista, or to the existence of movies like Neighbors.

Neighbors' Clever Comedian Cameos: Did You Catch Them All? Neighbors' Clever Comedian Cameos: Did You Catch Them All?
Well, the totals are in and the Seth Rogen comedy Neighbors is a big fat hit. Not only did it win rave reviews from critics--with our own Sean O'Connell calling it "fresh, relatable" and "hysterical"--but it also won at the box office, beating out The Amazing Spider-Man 2 with a healthy $51 million. That's especially impressive when you consider Neighbors R-rating means it was playing to a narrower audience than the well-established, franchised, PG-13-rated tent pole.

Weekend Box Office: Neighbors Takes Number One Over Sinking Spider-Man Weekend Box Office: Neighbors Takes Number One Over Sinking Spider-Man
Neighbors debuted at a solid number one with $51 million, making it the third largest ever opening for a rated-R comedy (Sex and the City is the highest, opening with $57 million in 2008, and Ted which opened at $54 million in 2012). That's the highest ever live-action opening for Rogen (his previous best was Green Hornet, $33 million in 2011). The same goes for Efron who has struggled to find the box office limelight post High School Musical 3.

Neighbors Grosses $2.5 Million From Thursday Night Showings Neighbors Grosses $2.5 Million From Thursday Night Showings
Universal has projected just about half that for the Nick Stoller comedy, which reportedly only cost $18 million. But most industry analysts forecast somewhere in the (pun alert) neighborhood of $35-$40 million. A tidy sum, and with two weeks before A Million Ways To Die In The West is unleashed, a solid springboard to $100 million domestic.

No better way to escape the sunshine, sweet call of birds and fresh air than to get over to your local cinema and spend a few hours in the climate controlled darkness. I love this time of year. This week weíve got bad neighbors, moms hitting the town and Dorothy returning to Oz.

So far in Neighbors' marketing campaign, Seth Rogen and Zac Efron have been getting the majority of the spotlight, with each representing a warring faction of this parents vs. frat comedy. But the latest featurette puts the focus on the film's littlest stars, Elise and Zoey Vargas, who play baby Stella.

This early clip features Mac (Seth Rogen) and Kelly (Rose Byrne) introducing themselves to Delta Psi brothers Teddy (Zac Efron) and Pete (Dave Franco), and you can see Christopher Mintz-Plasseís Scoonie in there as well. It seems to be a successful meet, with only the slightest bit of condescending smarm oozing off of the frat brothers - though the bit where he implied that Kelly is a flirt made my stomach twinge.

SXSW: Yes, Zac Efron Really Is The Funniest Person In Neighbors SXSW: Yes, Zac Efron Really Is The Funniest Person In Neighbors
Stoller could trim the run time of Neighbors, as the back-and-forth between the warring parties goes from inspired to childish and more than a bit exhausting. But the film has multiple, huge laughs. It plays extremely well with a crowd who is plugged in to the anarchistic rivalry.

Seth Rogen Wages War On Zac Efron In Latest Neighbors Trailer Seth Rogen Wages War On Zac Efron In Latest Neighbors Trailer
Neighbors is an odd-couple suburban comedy, but the part that strikes me as funny (and interesting) is that the usual party animal Rogen is transitioning into the stage where he can play a suburban dad who needs to tell the young kids to keep it down.

Neighbors Green Band Trailer Is A Bush-Humping Load Of Silliness Neighbors Green Band Trailer Is A Bush-Humping Load Of Silliness
My two favorite moments shown thus far are carried over into this trailer; one being the giant ballís overstated bopping of Rogenís head, and the second is of course Rogen getting rocketed into the ceiling above his cubicle after the airbag in his seat deployed. Luckily, Stoller is seasoned in over-the-top humor.

Directed by Nicholas Stoller, the new film centers on a young couple (Rogen, Rose Byrne) who have just had their first child and are looking to start living a nice quiet life in the suburbs. This plan is interrupted, however, when a frat house from the local university moves in next door. While the couple initially try to recapture their youth and hang with the college kids, eventually the relationship between the two houses completely deteriorates and they find themselves in all-out war.

From nude dudes to drugged out debauchery and fur-flaked cutlery, Stoller favors jokes that teeter on the brink of bad taste. So frankly weíre a little surprised to hear the title of his next movie has changed from the intriguing Townies to the far less evocative Neighbors.
