Nintendo Rewards For September Include Classic Characters

The monthly Club Nintendo rewards program has refreshed its crop of digital goodies for the month of September, offering up eight new games for loyal customers to grab in exchange for their Coins. Look for some Nintendo staples in this month’s games, including Mario, Link and the pink ball of suction, Kirby.

If you’ve purchased a Nintendo product in the last decade or so, chances are pretty good that you noticed a little flyer in the game or console box asking you to register your shiny new piece of gaming goodness via the Nintendo rewards program. Doing so will earn Coins for your Nintendo account, and those coins can then be spent on digital goods, like more games, or a small collection of physical goods like postcards, posters and game pouches. The more games you buy, the more Coins you’ll receive. You can earn additional Coins by taking part in surveys, too, meaning even more freebies down the road.

In the past, Nintendo has only offered a pair of games for each of their current consoles as part of the Club Nintendo rewards program. In September, however, the publisher shook things up a bit with a whopping eight new games, including four for the Wii U/Wii and another four for the 3DS. It looks like the Big N is keeping that tradition alive in September, offering another eight games for customers to choose from.

We’ll kick things off with the home console offerings for September. As a reminder, these games will only be available as rewards for a limited time, so you have until Oct. 12 to snag anything here that catches your fancy.

First up, for the Wii, rewards members can pick from NES Play Action Football and Super Punch-Out. As the names imply, the former is an NES classic gridiron simulator for 200 Coins while the latter is a boxing game that’ll set you back 250 Coins.

Over on the Wii U, you can have your pick of another pair of classics. First up is Mario Bros., which you don’t want to confuse with Super Mario Bros. Mario Bros. is the two-player survival game that, now that I think about it, more or less proved to be the first horde mode in gaming. You can also grab Kirby Super Star, one of the SNES iterations of the popular platforming adventure series. Both Wii U reward games can be yours for 200 Coins.

Finally, the 3DS is getting four reward games, a pair of NES classics and a pair of eShop titles, all going for 200 Coins a pop. You can enjoy Super Mario Bros. or the original The Legend of Zelda this week, alongside Touch Solitaire and the puzzle game, Pictobits.
