Mass Effect 3 Delayed To 2012

Commander Shepard's confrontation with the Reapers will not occur this holiday season. BioWare revealed today that they've pushed the sci-fi RPG's release into early next year.

"Today we have confirmed that Mass Effect 3 will be released in the first three months of 2012," said executive producer Casey Hudson on the official BioWare forums. "The development team is laser focused on making sure Mass Effect 3 is the biggest, boldest and best game in the series, ensuring that it exceeds everyone’s expectations.”

Well, crap. Not really much to make that medicine go down smoother. That's one less big release for RPG fans to look forward to this year. Other studios are probably breathing a sigh of relief, though.

As a small consolation prize, BioWare released two images from the game. The first is a screenshot of Shepard hanging with Kaidan and Liara. The second image is concept art of an unknown city.
