Why Was Max Payne 3 Delayed On PC?

Max Payne 3 will arrive on the Xbox 360 and PS3 weeks before it hits the PC. Today Rockstar explained the reason for the delay - kinda, sorta.

"We also would like the Max Payne 3 PC release to happen as close as possible to the console release date," the developer said during a Q&A on the Rockstar Newswire. "It just wasn’t possible to get the PC version lined up day and date with the console releases, but we’re working to make sure it’s with you just a couple weeks thereafter."

There's no mention of the reason that the PC version couldn't arrive along with its console counterparts. Maybe they didn't finish that version of the game in time? It's tough to say based on Rockstar's statement.

The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will arrive on May 15th in North America and on the 18th in Europe. The PC version will hit those territories on the 29th and June 1st, respectively. The game was previously scheduled for a March release but was delayed in January.

"We understand it's disappointing to have to wait another couple months for the game, but we hope you know our goal is always to deliver the best games we possibly can," said Rockstar of the release date change. "Trust that the delay is all to ensure the game is as epic and highly-polished as possible. Thank you all for your patience and understanding. We believe it will be well worth the wait."

Rockstar has a few more things to reveal between now and MP3's launch. They say that they're going to unveil the final box art in "the next few weeks."
