Iron Man 3 Reveals The Gemini Armor

Iron Man 3 Gemini

Ever since he first built the Iron Man suit Tony Stark has been obsessed with going higher and higher. In the first Iron Man movie he's seen trying to break the SR-71 Blackbird's record and in The Avengers we got to see him enter space for the first time. Well, in Iron Man 3 Tony's apparently built a suit made just for space travel.

All this week the official Iron Man Facebook page has been running an Unlock The Armor campaign that has been showing off the new suits that the superhero has been working on since the Battle of New York. Monday brought the Silver Centurion and Shotgun armors, and just yesterday we got our first look at Igor and Heartbreaker. But today, as seen above, we have Mark XXXIX, the sub-orbital suit known as Gemini.

We actually got our first look at this suit back in January when it was released in toy form, and back then it caused a massive surge of speculation about how Iron Man 3 could fit in with the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If Tony is building a suit specifically for space travel, could it possibly tie in with the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy? Or is it just another design that he made just in case? We won't know until the latest sequel hits theaters on May 3rd.

Presumably the Unlock The Armor campaign is going to continue for a while, as we know there are many, many new suits that will show up in Iron Man 3, so be sure to keep checking back for more!
