Twilight Reshoots Explained

Twilight Reshoots Explained It must be mighty different to be Catherine Hardwicke now than it was a year ago. When she started working on her adaptation of Twilight last winter, it was just a movie version of a vampire book that many people over the age of 20 had never heard of, starring a couple of actors who had yet to have any real starring roles. But now, as the frenzy around Twilight grows, and even old coots like me know who Edward and Bella are, the people behind the movie have a lot more reason to be confident. And therefore, weirdly, they're doing reshoots.

Entertainment Weekly admits in its article about Twilight's reshoots that they're normally a sign of something wrong on the set, but in this case that doesn't seem to be the reason. "We got to shoot some things I really wanted," Hardwicke told EW, citing weather problems and Kristen Stewart's schedule as a high school student as reasons for delays on the set. "It's all just icing on the cake."

EW lists a few reshot scenes that mean nothing to me, but probably will excite the Twilight fans: "One redone scene shows Edward playing Bella's lullaby [...] And if that doesn't whet your appetite, Hardwicke also reshot the bedroom kissing scene. Hardwicke also shot a few new scenes: more of Jacob, more on the Cullens' backstory, and more footage in the meadow.
