Jyn Erso Looks Like A Total Badass In New Rogue One Image

It's a good time to be a Star Wars fan. After J.J. Abrams triumphantly brought the galaxy far, far away back to the silver screen with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, entire generations of fans have once again come together to celebrate the space opera (except for maybe those prequels). And with Disney now producing spinoff films, a new Star Wars entry will occur ever year- making every other December release dwarf in comparison. The first of these one shot movies is Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which is set in between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Fans have been eager to see this return to the original trilogy, and have been devouring any new footage or images being released by the spinoff's marketing team. Luckily for us, we were just treated to a brand spankin' new image.

Yahoo Movies has just released a new image from Rogue One: a new shot of our Rebel heroine Jyn Erso. And it looks like things might be going too well for this new character. Check out that still below.

Pretty awesome, right? While in handcuffs, Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso still looks certifiably badass, and I would not want to mess with her.

Now of course comes the fun part of any new footage: speculation. It appears that sometime in Rogue One, Jyn Erso manages to get her ass captured by someone. While many would assume her handcuffs were courtesy of the Empire, I'm going to take the opposite approach. Jyn doesn't look particularly roughed up, so I'm thinking that perhaps the Rebel forces apprehended the protagonist instead. Maybe she was captured and put into a holding cell by the Rebel forces, with her participation in the stealing of the Death Star's plans buying her freedom. Alternatively, Mon Mothma may just need to ensure that whatever hideout they're in in secure, and that includes keeping a close eye on Jyn.

The marketing team behind Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has been very deliberate about what details and footage they release to the public. Much like The Force Awakens, Rogue One has been careful not to oversaturate or reveal too much through its marketing campaign. With another few months before the movie hits theaters, audiences are appropriately in the dark about the details of the spinoff's story.

That being said, the trailers have been pretty fantastic, with the most recent one giving us our first glimpse of Darth Vader. Check it out below.

I mean, come on. That is an A+ trailer that is full of action, without giving too much away. Other trailers could really learn from this.

Rogue One: A Star Wars story will fly into theaters on December 16, 2016.
