Elmo Puppeteer Did Not Have Sex With Underage Boy
By Mack Rawden 4 years ago
Just one day after his claims of sexual misconduct against Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash went public, the man at the heart of the allegations has decided to backtrack. The unidentified twenty-three-year-old accuser previously told Sesame Street executives that Clash bedded him when he was just sixteen. The allegation caused a chain reaction that led to the actor taking a leave of absence, but if this new statement is to be believed, there was nothing illegal about the relationship at all.
In a statement released this afternoon via his attorney, the mystery man reclassifies the relationship and vows not to comment any further. Here’s the actual transcript, courtesy of TMZ…
”[The accuser] wants it to be known that his sexual relationship with Mr. Clash was an adult consensual relationship. [The accuser] will have no further comment."
Litigators for Clash and the mystery man reportedly spent part of today working on some kind of settlement. Assumedly, that settlement required the unidentified accuser to release a statement about the relationship. Why he would have falsely accused a man he once dated of statutory rape is unclear, but more than likely, there are plenty of elements to this story that have not been made public.
If Clash really didn’t sleep with an underage boy, he deserves the right to return from his leave of absence and go about his business like nothing happened. Here’s to hoping he’s able to do that without causing too much of a scandal.
