When news of the divorce between Katy Perry and Russell Brand broke, the comedian and pop princess were in the media for weeks, fighting over who would actually appear at the People’s Choice Awards, unfollowing one another on Twitter, and discussing whether or not Brand would get any of Perry’s money. With that fiasco over, the former couple have moved on to new relationships and new opportunities. Regardless, Perry has a brand new documentary coming out at the end of the month called Katy Perry: Part of Me, which even features Brand in a few segments. To address this, the 27-year-old star has come out to discuss her side of the divorce story.

According to the documentary, Perry spent months flying all over the country and trying to keep up with Brand’s schedule alongside her own. According to US Weekly, the “Fireworks” singer begins to look frazzled and haggard on camera for a while, eventually admitting, “I’m trying to keep my marriage alive.”

The divorce was filed way back in December and it was at that point Perry admitted she had tried and tried to make her marriage work, but there was just no potential way it could happen.
"The truth is I'm a romantic and I believed in the fairy tale. . .I did everything I could but it still failed. The dream of being in love is a lot different than the reality of making it work."

Of course, this is a documentary meant to endear fans, and Perry’s reports have been countered by rumors the pop star would go out partying leaving her recovering alcoholic of a husband at home. Whatever the truth, both Perry and Russell have had nice things to say about one another in the last couple of months, and Pop Blend would like to wish them the best as they move forward apart.
