Miley Cyrus' Feelings About Hannah Montana Are More Morbid Than You'd Think

In the past six years, Miley Cyrus has gone through as big a change in personality and appearance as just about anyone else in entertainment. (With some obvious exceptions.) From her years as the tween superstar Hannah Montana to her clothing-optional SNL gig, the actress and pop star has become as divisive a celebrity as there can be. She recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of Hannah Montana’s premiere, and in a message that championed her fellow cast and crew members, she dropped a delightfully dark reference to her former Disney persona.

Even though HM is chopped up into little tiny pieces and buried in my backyard she will always hold a very special place in my heart!

For someone who isn’t particularly fond of Hannah Montana or anything about it – kind of like how Miley’s dad feels about everything – this is one of the most fabulous declarations that Cyrus has ever said. I mean, yes, it’s morbid and I get that no one should be sitting around and laughing at the prospect of a teenage musician getting disassembled like a side of beef and then left to serve as lawn fertilizer. But…Hannah Montana isn’t real, and if we can talk about certain big screen superheroes beating the shit out of each other with manic electricity in our eyes, then we can envision another person with an alter ego (Hannah Stewart) as a victim of something as vicious as this.

Depending on how much you’ve been paying attention to Miley Cyrus-related stories in the past few years, her feelings about the character that vaulted her to stardom may or may not be surprising. Cyrus definitely defied expectations following the end of Hannah Montana, turning up the dial on her own sexuality, getting into rivalries and being very public and open about drug use and partying. So if that whole transition sent you reeling, then maybe you wouldn’t expect her to think of Hannah Montana in a six-feet-underground sense. But if you’re always of the assumption that child stars will turn into temporary maniacs, then this is just par for the course.

Still, for all that the character is dead to her, Miley Cyrus doesn’t think of any real-life humans from the show in that way. Check out her entire Instagram post below.

Cyrus seems to be on the path to a TV career that could eclipse her kid-friendly past. The Voice appearances aside, she joined the upcoming Woody Allen series that the iconic filmmaker is putting together for Amazon. Assuming that show indeed comes out, what do you think Miley Cyrus will be saying about her character in 2026?
