The Awesome Game Of Thrones Scene We Almost Got About Brienne's Love Life

Game of Thrones has let us in on so many interesting facts related to the White Walkers and the origins of certain characters in recent weeks that viewers have had a lot to process. However, one of the greatest storylines to come out of the last couple of episodes of HBO’s hit fantasy drama has been way less emotional and way more amusing. That plotline would be none other than the flirtatious relationship between the very forward Tormund Giantsbane and the very conservative Brienne of Tarth. We’ve already gotten some epic moments between the two characters, but recently actress Gwendoline Christie revealed there was one scene about the potential romance that had to be cut for time.

In an interview, Christie recently reported that she filmed a scene with the typically serious Sansa. Apparently, the Stark kid has a bit of a funny bone. Gwendoline Christie says that a scene was written where Sansa was “going Mean Girls” and teasing Brienne about her potential romance with the wildling during their stay at Castle Black. Brienne’s obviously been keeping Tormund’s affections at arms length, but they are hard to ignore when he shows her his prowess at meat eating or gives her looks like these:

Unfortunately, EW says the scene was cut from the show. Game of Thrones does typically include deleted scenes with its Blu-ray sets, but it does make me wonder: If HBO had known ahead of time that the whole “Castle Black and chill” plotline would be so popular with viewers, would the subscription cable network have kept the scene with Sansa teasing Brienne?

As for Gwendoline Christie, the actress can’t get enough of filming those sorts of things with Khristopher Hivju.

First of all, Kristofer is absolutely hilarious. I don’t think I’ve been in a scene on Game of Thrones when it’s been everything I can do to stop myself from laughing. The way he was behaving toward me was just extraordinary.

The one-sided flirtation between Tormund and Brienne started during Episode 4 of Season 6 and director Dan Sackheim admitted the side story was intentional. Since then, we've gotten a slew of epic moments between the wildling and the lady knight and we hope those will continue in the weeks to come.
