Death Is Coming To DVD, Own The Final Destination January 5th

Death’s list keeps growing and growing, but will your Final Destination DVD collection? On January 5th, 2010, you can continue your investigation into death’s design by buying The Final Destination on DVD or Blu-ray.

Nick (Bobby Campo) and some friends head over to McKinley Speedway to check out a race. They’re having a blast until a car spins out of control, sending fiery debris flying into the stands. Nick watches everyone perish, including his friends, before coming to and realizing the entire accident was a premonition. He convinces his friends to leave the stadium just before his vision becomes a reality, killing nearly everyone in their seating section. They think they’re lucky to be alive. What they don’t know is that death isn’t going to let them get away that easy.

People just can’t resist a Final Destination movie. The fourth film not only held the top spot at the box office for two weeks, but it took in over $150 million worldwide. As a franchise enthusiast, I was one of many who made seeing the 3D installment a top priority and, like a number of other fans, I was disappointed. Quality or not, there’s still something addictive about these movies, and come January 5th, I will be completing my collection.

You’ll have the option of purchasing The Final Destination on DVD for $28.98 or on Blu-ray for $35.99. Other than some additional scenes, the DVD version is as bare as they come. It doesn’t even have the 3D version! The fact that the movie is just so-so compared to its predecessors makes the DVD a pointless purchase. If you plan to own The Final Destination, it better be on Blu-ray. The BD comes with the 2D and 3D versions of the film, two pairs of 3D glasses, alternate endings, “Body Count: The Deaths of The Final Destination,” pre-visualization/storyboard segments, and BD-Live access.

For you Final Destination novices, I highly recommend purchasing the triple-feature collection or really going all out and getting the Final Destination Thrill-olgy, which boasts a slew of bonus material. It would be a shame to tarnish the series by watching the subpar fourth film before the far superior original three.
