Pineapple Express Flies High Onto DVD And Blu-Ray
All aboard the Pineapple Express! Thanks to Sony Pictures Home Entertainment you can extend your New Year celebration with Pineapple Express on DVD and Blu-ray January 6th.
A lazy stoner, Dale Denton (Seth Rogen), and his clueless weed dealer, Saul Silver (James Franco), join forces after Dale witnesses a murder committed by a crooked cop and a violent drug lord. Unfortunately for this brain dead duo, Dale decides to ditch his roach at the scene of the crime, which just happens to have an extremely rare strain of weed called Pineapple Express rolled within it. In fact, it’s so rare it can easily be traced back to Saul. What one may suspect to be merely some pot-induced paranoia turns out to be a real run for their lives after they realize the bad guys are hot on their trail. No need to fear because when you’re flying high, bullets and potential death are nothing and the good times keep rolling.
The script, written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, did stimulate a few laughs, but the ludicrous plot was a little frustrating. The story being so ridiculous made me roll my eyes at scenes that were meant to evoke some chuckles. The film is good fun for a onetime viewing, but may not be worthy of being added to a DVD or Blu-ray library.
