The Screamers Evolve On DVD Again

Developing the perfect weapon sounded like a great idea to a group of scientists living on the war torn planet Sirius 6B back in 2078. But, the artificially intelligent Autonomous Mobile Swords, or screamers, evolved into total killing machines. 13 years after the screamers annihilated the human population on the planet, a mysterious distress signal draws a group of rescuers back to Sirius 6B.

Could there actually be a colony of human survivors? Or, could the screamers have developed into an even more terrifying combination of man and machine determined to completely take out the human race? Thanks to Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, you can find out for yourself when Screamers: The Hunting hits DVD on February 17th. I’d like to think that if a film gets a sequel, it must be because the original was something good. The plot is very unusual and creative. I wouldn’t voluntarily watch a sci-fi flick, but, being that my father loves the genre, I have seen my fair share. You need to have a particular head for a film like this. In order to get really into it, you need to be able to understand all of the intricate elements. What it comes down to is that some people can and some people can’t. If you can wrap your brain around a story of subterranean, self-replicating, spinning saw blade wielding killing machines, $24.96 will get you the film as well as a behind-the-scenes featurette. Happy hunting.
