Battlestar Galactica is over with. Whether you liked the finale or didn’t (or, like me, you haven’t seen it yet), the show is over. Time to move on. Thankfully, we don’t have to move far as the Galactica follow-up series, Caprica is coming sooner than we expected… especially for those of us who missed the fact that it’s coming to DVD before it airs on the Sci-Fi SyFy channel.
The prequel miniseries takes place 50 years before the events of Battlestar Galactica and follows two rival families, the Graystones and the Adamas, as they compete in their society and move rapidly toward the development of the Cylons.
We’ve been sent a slew of video clips to whet your appetite for the upcoming BSG spin-off. I wish I could say they sell me on the idea of Caprica, but I’m still unconvinced this is going to be a good idea, particularly with the amount of twists BSG threw at us in the last couple of episodes. Did Moore’s revelations write him out of a new series? I guess we’ll find out, but the notion that this is coming to DVD before airing can’t be good for those ratings the network would want to see before ordering episodes for a regular series.
