You Can Now Get Witcher 3 On A Huge Discount

GameStop has a massive discount on The Witcher 3. Why? Because it's their Game of the Year. As most outlets are handing out GOTY awards, the brick and mortar retailer has handed out their own, and in doing so they decided to reward gamers by discounting the game greatly.

The Witcher 3 is currently discounted down to $29.99, slashed in price from its standard $49.99 price tag. The $29.99 discount was announced by Gamespot, where they note that not only is the base game available at a lower price than usual, but the bundle packs and DLC are discounted as well.

If you check the GameStop collection page you'll see that you can nab The Witcher 3's DLC such as Hearts of Stone and the Gwent bundle for only $9.99, down from the $19.99 price point.

The game's e-guide is also half off with a pre-owned version of The Witcher 3 on PS4 and Xbox One. The pre-owned copies aren't much cheaper than the brand new copies, only showing a $2 difference between both versions. I mean, if you had a choice to pay $29.99 for a brand new copy of the game or $27.99 for a used copy, I don't see why you just wouldn't get the new one.

The page does not state how long this discount will last, but something tells me that the GOTY discount will only be in effect for a short time through the new year.

This is the first time that GameStop has done a significant GOTY discount for their winner. The game that they picked isn't surprising, though, because a lot of other game websites out there have also named The Witcher 3 as their Game Of The Year. From Yahoo to the Game Awards 2015, the title garnered tons of nominations and head-nods for being one of the best that 2015 had to offer.

According to DualShockers, Final Fantasy XV game director Hajime Tabata even picked CD Projekt Red's open-world, Polish-folklore RPG as his GOTY. So not only are gamers high-up on the title along with game journalists, but other game developers also think that The Witcher 3 deserved to walk away with the prize.

Push Square also did a editorial on why CD Projekt Red deserved to be named the developer of the year. They spent more than five years developing The Witcher 3 and the company has become increasingly recognized in the gaming industry for high-quality, mature storytelling and character development.

Their next big adventure is almost the complete opposite of The Witcher 3, taking place in the far future where cybernetics rule the day... I'm talking about Cyberpunk 2077. But gamers will have to wait until 2017 for that one.

In the meantime you can get your hands on The Witcher 3 for home consoles from GameStop for only $29.99 or you can get the game used for only $27.99. The title is also discounted during the Steam Winter Sale if you wanted to get a digital copy for PC.
