What's Coming With The Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Update

Nintendo and Monolith Soft aren't done with updating Xenoblade Chronicles 2. The newest update for the JRPG will add and fix some of the content in the game for Nintendo Switch owners, as well as enable a brand new mode of gameplay.

The update isn't just a patch to fix some issues and bring about some balance to a few glitches people may have spotted here and there in the Nintendo Switch exclusive, as pointed out on the official Nintendo of America Twitter account, the update will also add an all-new New Game+ feature so that players who completed an entire playthrough of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will be compelled to go back and play through the game again.

Version 1.3.0 arrives as a free update during the middle of February. An exact date wasn't given and an exact size wasn't listed.

Some people were a bit annoyed that in the last patch Monolith Soft greatly reduced the amount of dialogue spoken by the characters during battle sequences. A few people in the thread felt as if a few of the more memorable lines were completely removed. However, it was revealed by some users that those voice lines were still in the game, but Monolith Soft had simply lowered the rate at which they were spoken in the game.

We do know that in the last update, version 1.2.0, there were mostly just a lot of fixes to certain issues in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, including an issue with skills not having certain effects enabled, a glitch with a few of the side-quests that happened to be dependent on the player's progress through the main story, and the ability to skip voiced segments in the menus using the 'A' or 'B' buttons on the Joy-Con controllers.

The most significant update in 1.2.0 was the ability to make use of the expansion packs that were released as well for those with the Expansion Pass. The first expansion adds brand new side-quests throughout five of the game's chapters, while the second expansion added a number of useful items to the player's inventory to help them along the way.

Updating the game to the latest patch is done automatically, and so long as you're connected to the internet it should download the patch once it's ready in mid-February.

Monolith Soft's Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a similar game to the Wii U exclusive Xenoblade Chronicles X insofar as gameplay mechanics are concerned, but it also has some decidedly different features when it comes to the combat using the Blade system, and the story is a lot more focused this time around given that you aren't playing a created character.

You'll need to keep an eye out for the upcoming 1.3.0 update, which will download automatically for the Nintendo Switch, when it finally releases to the public this February.
