PS Plus Delivers Street Fighter X Tekken, Metro: Last Light, PayDay 2 In February
If you thought the January PlayStation Plus lineup was pretty outstanding (which it certainly was), then you may want to brace yourself for another dousing in awesome sauce as Sony announces upcoming titles for February, including a spot on the Instant Game Collection for games like Metro: Last Light, Outlast and Street Fighter X Tekken.
The dynamite January Plus lineup, boasting games like BioShock Infinite on the PlayStation 3 and Don’t Starve on the PlayStation 4, didn’t really surprise me. It was the first month of a new year, it came shortly following the launch of a new console and it happened during what is traditionally a dry spell for new game releases. Of course you want to put your best foot forward during such a month.
What I didn’t expect, however, was for the crazy train to keep rolling into February. Plus has a down month every now and again but, for the most part, there’s usually a little something just about everyone can be excited about on a regular basis. Then January 2014 came along and blew the doors off the whole mess, raising the bar ridiculously high with a loaded lineup of great games for all three home and portable consoles. And depending on who you ask, it looks like February will meet or exceed those new standards with a fresh batch of three PS3 games, a brand new PS4 game and two Vita games. Clear off those hard drives and memory cards, because you’re going to need some extra space.
First up is the PS4 offering Outlast. Being a brand new console, it’s no surprise that the PS4 doesn’t have anything representing the horror genre just yet, especially since said genre isn’t exactly overflowing on other consoles that have been around for a decade. The PC horror gem Outlast is coming to the PS4 in February, however, and, if you’re gaming with Plus, you’ll be able to explore the asylum and lose your own mind in the process at no additional charge.
Over on the PS3, three vastly different titles released in the past year will make an appearance, starting with the apocalyptic first-person shooter, Metro: Last Light. The PlayStation 3 love continues with co-operative crime-a-thon, PayDay 2, as well as the unique third-person action game, Remember Me.
And then there’s the Vita lineup, consisting of a racer and a fighter. Pugilists on the go will be able to enjoy Street Fighter X Tekken via PS Plus this month, as well as ModNation Racers: Road Trip.
Yep…That’s a pretty stacked deck right there, once again making the argument for PlayStation Plus being the single best bang for your buck investment in gaming history. That’s not hyperbole at this point. Those games will be accompanied by the usual dose of discounts and promotions throughout February and who knows what else. In other words, you’re making your money back in just a single month of the annual subscription. There’s no excuse not to jump on board at this point.
