Quake Live, the browser-based, multiplayer version of Quake III, will begin its public testing next week. The game's open beta will launch on Tuesday, February 24th.
To try out Quake Live, just visit the game's website. An invitation-only closed beta was launched in 2008 but all stats will be wiped at the beginning of the open beta.
The game was first announced in 2007 and is being developed by id Software. The final product will feature the following game modes: Free For All, Team Deathmatch, Capture The Flag, Insta-Gib, and Clan Arena. Clan Arena is a team-based mode where all players start with full armor and weapons and must wait until the end of a round to respawn after dying - clearly designed for e-sports play.
