Red Solstice Alpha Gameplay Videos Look More Complete Than Most AAA Titles

Now here's a game I'm excited to talk about. Ironward's still-in-development sci-fi, horror, action-RTS game The Red Solstice that first made waves on IndieGoGo and now it's kicking butt in its alpha form and showcasing a lot of great potential as a mixed hybrid Starcraft meets X-Com meets Alien Shooter sort of affair.

The moody atmosphere, the dark settings, those amazing sound effects – Red Solstice really knows how to set the mood and touch our hearts where they probably don't like being touched very much.

The whole concept of playing a character using RTS style mechanics seems a bit off-center at first, but while watching the video it's easy to warm to the idea thanks to the well-timed encounters, the sort of frantic, action-horror movie pace (which reminded me a heck of a lot of James Cameron's Aliens) and the sub-boss encounters really mixed things up.

Now, I'm not going to say this is the best thing to hit the RTS-action genre since the sliced bread of X-Com: Apocalypse but I will say that there's a lot of promise in this indie title. And of course there would be a lot of promise because your money funded this game and there would be butts to kick if the devs screwed it up.

Anyway, if you like what you see and you want to see more, feel free to pay a kind visit to the official website for The Red Solstice. The game is still in alpha and actually looks better than most finished big-budget AAA titles out there...I don't need to name names, but they know who they are.
