Sacred Citadel Announced; Sacred 3 Coming In 2013

Deep Silver and Southend Interactive have announced that Sacred Citadel is coming for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. The game features side-scrolling, beat e'm up action for up to three players, Final Fight style. In addition to announcing the game, a debut trailer was teased featuring techno-disco and Borderlands-style hilarity.

The game is a typical “save the land” style arcade romp, with three heroes set out to fight off a modified Orc horde. Three playable characters make the cut, the Safiri Warrior, the Ancarian Ranger and the Khukuri Shaman. The game expands its playability from older hack-and-slash side-scrollers by adding RPG elements, drop-in and drop-out co-op, vehicles and mounts. Check it out in the teaser trailer below.

I love the art-style and pace to the game, it reminds me a lot of Shank 2, which was such a refreshing breath of fresh air from a lot of the stale and stolid shooters out there. Having a combination of over-the-top violence and arcade-quality combos really adds to the mix.

In addition to all this Sacred Citadel news, Deep Silver also confirmed that this game directly ties into the story for the Sacred RPG franchise and that this will be a precursor for Sacred 3 which is due out in 2013 by Keen Games.

Sacred Citadel will launch for digital platforms on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in early 2013. For more info feel free to pay a visit to the Official Website.
