Subscribe To Ant-Man Casting Call Suggests The Film Will Be Very Funny Updates
With its release date pushed up from November 2015 to July 2015, it likely won't be long until Edgar Wright's Ant-Man finally starts finding actors to add to the cast and details about the mysterious plot are revealed. Production on the film will begin in the first half of 2014, meaning that it's entirely possible that we could have an actor set for the lead role before the end of the year. But what is it exactly that Wright and the folks over at Marvel Studios are looking for? Today we get a small inside look. British blog Bludhaven Banter (via Yahoo! UK) has gotten its hands on a handful of casting calls, and while most of them are for upcoming episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., as you can see below one appears to be crafted to try and find an Ant-Man cast:

Ant-Man Casting Call

In case that's too hard to read, you can scope out all of the details below:
[Young Girl] Submit ages 6-9, intelligent, appealing

[Male] 30s, Asian, Huge, tough and intimidating, comedic ability

[Male] 30s, Caucasian, over 6′, dangerous and rough, comedic

[Male] 50s, Italian-American, scary and unusual features, deadpan humor

[Male] 30s - 40s, Russian, wiry and smart, deadpan humor

[Male] 20s or 30s, any ethnicity, under 5'8", edgy and funny

Overall these descriptions are a bit too vague to really determine exactly what characters Wright and Marvel are looking to cast actors for (perhaps the white guy in his 30s is Scott Lang?), but one thing is very clear from this casting call: the movie is going to be very funny. Wright, of course, has an amazing background in comedy, having previously made Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and The World's End, so it's not exactly a huge surprise that the script he's co-written with Joe Cornish contains a few laughs. Marvel Studios films have regularly embraced the lighter side of comic book moving making - with the recently released Thor: The Dark World being one of their funniest yet - and it looks like that tradition will continue at least into the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase Three in 2015.

While we wait for the studio to finally get around to naming who will play Ant-Man, why not spend some time with some mindless speculation? Hit the comments section below and hit us with your best guesses for each of the characters described above.
