The Avengers 3 And The Avengers 4 May Have Already Found Directors

Despite the fact that they had zero experience making blockbuster movies, directors Joe and Anthony Russo absolutely knocked it out of the park making Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Their action sequences were absolutely thrilling, they demonstrated a great sense of story and pacing, and they got amazing performances out of each and every actor. They were so successful sculpting the hit film that they were hired to make Captain America 3 a full three months before The Winter Soldier was even released. But that's apparently just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what Marvel wants from the brother filmmakers.

According to Badass Digest, if Marvel Studios gets its way, then they may be planning on bringing back the Russos for not only The Avengers 3 but also the inevitable Avengers 4. The report says that nothing is actually official yet, and that negotiations are on-going, but it's added that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige wants to lock them down for the future and have them be the successors to Joss Whedon.

If you are looking for proof that Marvel currently has a lot of faith in the Russos, then you need look no further than the most recent announcements regarding Captain America 3. Earlier tonight we learned that Robert Downey Jr. is now in negotiations to co-star in the 2016 blockbuster, with the plan being to use the movie to launch a big screen adaptation of the incredibly popular 2006 comic book crossover storyline Civil War. In that limited run, Captain America and Iron Man wind up on opposite sides of an very important issue: superhero registration with the United States government. Iron Man believes that those with powers should be accountable to the people that they protect, while Captain America believes that the association would make him a pawn (something he definitely wasn't too happy about in Captain America: The Winter Soldier while working for S.H.I.E.L.D.) This promises to be an epic on-screen event, and it sounds like Marvel is very happy with the two men that they've put in charge of making it happen.

Production on Captain America 3 is set to start up next spring, with the film currently scheduled to hit theaters on May 6, 2016. Considering that The Avengers 3 is tentatively dated for 2018 - meaning that it would have to go into production some time in 2017 - that means there would be plenty of time for Joe and Anthony Russo to start wrapping their minds around the project after finishing Cap 3 (especially if they're already thinking about it now and planning it out years in advance).
