Overall this has been a pretty damn good week for Bradley Cooper. Sure, he lost out to Hugh Jackman for Best Actor - Comedy or Musical at the Golden Globes last night, but on Thursday he secured his first Academy Award nomination and today we have news of a new project he's attached to. Warner Bros. has just completed a deal for an adaptation of the Howard Blum book Dark Invasion and have secured Cooper in the lead role.

Deadline says that the project is a spy thriller set in during World War I and will star the Silver Linings Playbook lead as NYPD Captain Tom Tunney, a man who must put together a team "that will bring...German spies to justice." The movie is based on a true story and the non-fiction book will be published in September of this year. The site doesn't mention who will be writing the adaptation, who they have in mind to direct, or when they might get started on production, but Cooper is also set to produce the project with his 22nd & Indiana label.

Cooper will be working hard in 2013, and I don't just mean on the awards press circuit. He is currently in production on Todd Phillips' The Hangover Part III, which will be out in May and also recently reunited with his fellow Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence for Susanne Bier's period drama Serena. He is also attached to star in the next film from David O. Russell, formerly titled American Bullshit, which will feature Jeremy Renner, Christian Bale, Amy Adams and Louis C.K.
