I was just wondering the other day what happened to Jenna Elfman, the Dharma & Greg actress who seemed to be everywhere you looked for a short period of time, then disappeared like a burned out sun. I mean, Looney Tunes: Back in Action was pretty bad, but it didn’t kill Brendan Frasier’s career, so why Elfman’s? It turns out Dharma’s career isn’t dead. It’s just been in hiding for a little while.
Now, according to Coming Soon, Elfman will appear in the independent film The Six Wives of Henry Lefay, which we’ve reported on previously as Tim Allen and Elisha Cuthbert joined the cast. Elfman will be seen alongside Paz Vega, Andie MacDowell, and Kelli Garner as one of the wives of Henry Lefay (Allen).
The story follows Cuthbert who plays Allen’s daughter who returns home to bury her dead father to find the six wives he had over his life, all of whom want to be the one to bury the dead guy. They fight over who gets the corpse, who loved him most, and who he loved most. Oh, and he might not be dead.
So Elfman’s career may not be dead, but I wouldn’t expect it to be jumping up to the late ‘90s highs any time soon. This is not only a Tim Allen comedy, but Cuthbert is the primary focus of the picture. That’s actually worse than an Allen comedy. At least with him you’re guaranteed a few laughs as he takes one in the nards or grunts or something. Cuthbert has yet to prove she’s capable of holding a picture, and with six other female roles to contend with, I don’t see this being any different.
