G.I. Joe Takes Orders From Governor Swan

Jonathan Pryce has been Cardinal, King, and Governor, and next year he’ll get to add another title to his impressive resume: President of the United States. Apparently the Welsh actor has been added to the cast of G.I. Joe in the “small but integral” role of the American President, according to Latino Review.

> I don’t remember the President ever being an important part of the G.I. Joe cartoon, so I don’t know how appropriate or important Pryce’s casting is, but I am a fan of the actor who is recently best known for his stint in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies as Governor Swan, Elizabeth’s father. Latino Review has had the opportunity to read several drafts of the G.I. Joe screenplay, including (theoretically) the one that’s actually being used, so they have a much better idea as to his importance.

I like Pryce’s work, although he tends to excel in comedic roles (or as unintentionally comedic characters). I can’t say I’m thrilled to have him added to G.I. Joe, but it’s not a piece of casting that bothers me either.
