Always on the cutting edge of boring TV to movie casting information, The Hollywood Reporter has the latest on Miami Vice movie casting. Unfortunately named Chinese actress Gong Li will be joining the cast, having beaten out Chopsticks Ling for the role of Isabella. Isabella will be the wife of the flick’s bad guy, and also Crockett’s forbidden love interest.
The only really interesting thing about this 80’s TV series rehashing is that the series original executive producer Michael Mann (who has since gone on to become a nearly A list film director) is writing, directing, and producing the feature. This hopefully means that the movie won’t be another bad comedic parody of something some people (not me) once loved.
With a big name director, Vice has also scored a big name cast. Oscar Winner Jamie Fox and Alexander loser Colin Farrell are slated to star when the movie hits theaters July 2006.
