Guardians Of The Galaxy Meets Star Wars In Cool New Fan-Made Posters
When it comes to posters, Guardians of the Galaxy has really been knocking it out of the park. First it released this little painted piece - introducing the epic tagline "You're Welcome" - and then last month another one-sheet that had the members of the titular team all striking badass action poses. Cool as those designs are, however, the artists over at Poster Posse has beaten them all with some very cool fan-made pieces.
Advertised by writer/director James Gunn on his personal Facebook page, the website Blurppy has debuted a series of some really incredible art inspired by Guardians of the Galaxy. Some of them are a bit more derivative, like the Star Wars-esque poster you see above, made by U.K.-based artist Matt Ferguson, but most have a style very much of their take. Take, for example, this piece from Japan's Kaz Oomori. It's not super realistic, but the lines and coloration are fantastic.
The same could be said for the Guardians of the Galaxy art by artist Chad Woodward, who not only made his pieces into a poster but also a series of badges:
Personally, my favorite of the bunch is this comic book cover-looking one-sheet by U.S. artist Juan Martinez. It earns a lot of bonus points for a wicked cool title font and the inclusion of both Karen Gillan's Nebula and Benicio Del Toro's The Collector.
As I mentioned when the first Guardians of the Galaxy TV spot came online earlier today, we are now less than two months away from the space epic, hitting theaters on August 1st, and we couldn't be more excited. Based on a screenplay by James Gunn, the film begins centered on Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), a half-human, half-alien anti-hero who was taken away from Earth as a child and spends his days thieving and smuggling his way across the universe. That is, until he gets his hands on a mysterious orb that puts him right in the cross-hairs of some of the baddest baddies you'll ever find. With no other choice, Star-Lord teams up with a gang of fellow misfits - Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax The Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) and Groot (Vin Diesel) - and with no other choice, works to keep the galaxy safe from peril.
