Harry Osborn Takes Over Oscorp In New Amazing Spider-Man 2 Image

Is Harry Osborn already preparing to take over Oscorp? He sure looks in charge in this new image from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which Harry Osborn himself-- a.k.a. Dane DeHaan-- tweeted today. With Harry in an executive-style black jacket and Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker in a more casual button-down, it looks like what happens when the CEO of a company gives the IT guy a dressing down. Or maybe an outtake from Garfield's own The Social Network, with DeHaan as the suit guy trying to give Mark Zuckerberg a hard time.

We've been spinning ourselves in circles trying to figure out exactly what Harry's role is in The Amazing Spider-Man 2-- that is, aside from his usual role as Peter Parker's best friend. You may remember that over the course of Sam Raimi's three Spider-Man films James Franco's version of Harry transformed from pal to villain, and DeHaan's Harry is likely to head in the same direction, especially with Chris Cooper on board as his dad Norman Osborn, who eventually turns into the Green Goblin. While director Marc Webb has promised many times that Jamie Foxx's Electro is the main villain of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, it's clear that he's mapping out a broader plan for a Spider-Man cinematic universe-- something he and producer Matt Tolmach confirmed to Sean at Comic-Con. "I think if you pay attention to the second movie, you'll see hints of what's to come," Webb offered-- which suggests to us that, while the Green Goblin may not be a part of Spidey 2, there will be seeds planted for his introduction later on.

Given Webb's fairly admirable dedication to maintaining some of the surprises in his film, we're still sorting through some conflicting information we have no answer for, like Felicity Jones's revelation that she's playing Green Goblin's girlfriend, and Webb's roundabout confirmation that she's dating Norman Osborn. That seems to suggest that Green Goblin makes an appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, despite all the promises Webb makes about Electro. The movie has wrapped production and is set to arrive in early May, which means some kind of trailer or footage should emerge soon. A lot of these mysteries-- including exactly how large a role Harry Osborn will play-- ought to remain intact until then, though. And truly, as much time as spend trying to sort through the story, we kind of enjoy the suspense too.
