I know we all spend half our days envying celebrities, for their gorgeous hair or giant houses or whatever, but I’m always jealous when I see how much damn vacation they get to take. And hell, half the time they’re working they’re off in some exotic location, and you know the real stars are sitting on the beach while everyone else is doing the grunt work.

OK, OK, I exaggerate. But I am jealous of Maggie Gyllenhaal, who has just dropped out of a role in The Private Lives of Pippa Lee. She had originally taken the role when the shooting schedule would be just two weeks, but when it expanded to five, she decided to stay in London with Peter Sarsgaard and their baby instead. Working moms the world over must be seething right now.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that Maria Bello will step into the role, playing the mother of Robin Wright Penn’s lead character in a flashback. The Reporter also helpfully points out that Bello looks more like Wright Penn than Gyllenhaal does, which is true. On a related note, when do we start calling her just Robin Wright again, now that she and Sean Penn are getting a divorce? Anyway, Wright Penn plays a woman who undergoes a crisis when her husband divorces her, and then presumably she undergoes a flashback to her childhood.
