Max Payne Is Barely PG-13, Says Director

Video game fans who have been burned in the past by movie adaptations of their favorite, violent games may be able to take heart in Max Payne. Though the movie version of the shoot-'em-up game will be rated a teen-friendly PG-13, director John Moore says it's "bewildering" how little had to be changed from the R-rated version.

"I didn't have to change much," director John Moore told the gaming website 1up. "We trimmed some frames more for the sake of trimming frames than anything, but we got the rating without any major changes at all."

Based on the trailers, and with no knowledge whatsoever of the game, I assume this is going to mean a lot of moody atmospherics and big, big violence. Whether it'll make an actually good comic book movie remains to be seen.
