Paramount Busting Meth Labs

Con men make for the best movie heroes or antiheroes, and, y'know, crystal meth is a hot topic these days. So Paramount has got their finger on the pulse with their planned biopic about Linda Trest, a Missouri journalist who discovered that a cop celebrated for busting a crime ring was actually.... wait for it... not who he claimed to be.

THR is reporting the story's crazy details, which involve Bill A. Jakob, an unemployed cop, pretending to be a high-minded federal agent named "Sergeant Bill." Trest, whose life rights have been purchased by the studio, was a reporter at the Gasconade County Republican in Gerald, Missouri when she uncovered the story.

David Benioff, the writer of movies as different as The Kite Runner and Troy, will be producing, with Anthony Walton and Andrew Dresher actually handling the writing for this one.

The whole story was covered in a 60 Minutes segment earlier this month-- you can see it here (that's also where the above image comes from).
