Point Break Sequel Pretty Much Dead

Moviehole's Clint Morris has been on top of it when it comes to investigating the sequel nobody asked for, Point Break Indo. First Jan de Bont was going to follow up on Kathryn Bigelow's classic, then director Jeff Wadlow stepped in. Then we learned that neither Keanu Reeves, Patrick Swayze or Lori Petty had been contacted for a role, which made it sound more like one of those direct-to-DVD sequel things where you can't really believe the movies are related.

And now, apparently because the forces of good and right in the world have intervened, the sequel is off entirely. Clint is reporting this morning that two "good-as-offiicial sources" confirmed that the production has fallen apart. It makes sense, really, given that we've heard so little about the film lately, and the production start date has been pushed back repeatedly. You'd think that with renewed interest in Bigelow's career thanks to The Hurt Locker a Point Break sequel might be able to get some traction, but really, I think we're all better off this way.
