Rachel Weisz May Be Heading To Biblical Times

Rumors are rumors, as we know, and rumors reported in Spanish are even more suspect, especially when the person reporting the rumor doesn't speak Spanish at all. Still, if JoBlo's Spanish translation skills are to be trusted, Rachel Weisz will be taking a role in the next film from Alejandro Amenabar, the director of The Others and The Sea Inside. But it's no ghost story or biographical drama: it's a story set in Biblical times, and it apparently involves slaves.

According to JoBlo's source, Oscar Isaac of The Nativity Story will play a slave who becomes one of the earliest Christians, and tries to use his faith to secure his freedom. Weisz will play his mistress, a philosopher named Hypatia. If you don't currently have a mental image of Weisz all done up in princess garb from The Fountain, well, get your head in the right place!

So, as I said, there's no telling whether or not this source is true, or whether it's been so mangled from Spanish that Rachel Weisz isn't even involved. Still, it's an intriguing rumor, even if this movie sounds so strange that I don't really understand it. Then again, maybe it's just my poor Spanish talking.
