Rita Wilson has been added to the cast of the untitled Nancy Meyers romantic comedy, becoming yet another familiar comedy face to join the film. She'll play the best friend and confidant of Meryl Streep's character, who is torn between romances with both Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin.
Wilson has been more of a producer than an actor lately; the THR piece announcing her casting cites her as the producer of the upcoming Nia Vardalos comedy My Life in Ruins, though she'll also have a part in Old Dogs. Wilson had a great supporting role in another romantic comedy of the past, Sleepless in Seattle, so we know she makes a good confidant. Her casting makes just one more reason to have higher-than-usual hopes for this particular romantic comedy.
