Teri Polo Haunted By Ghosts

When you’re a young, blonde actress in Hollywood trying to make a serious career for yourself, you’ve got pretty much two options. Come out of nowhere and win an Oscar, or star in a bland horror movie and hope that leads, somehow, to an Oscar. Teri Polo, despite a role in the successful Meet the Parents movies, hasn’t gotten her Oscar just yet, so bland horror movie it is!

The Hollywood Reporter tells us that she’ll star in The Beacon, as a woman grieving the loss of her four-year-old son. She moves into a new apartment building with her husband (The Shield’s David Rees Snell), and once there she begins to see the ghost of another young boy who died when he fell down the elevator shaft. She then teams up with a detective to try and save the boy’s soul, and blah blah blah, you know where this is going.

I can’t say I’m disappointed in Polo, since you can’t blame a girl from trying to keep a career going. But I’m disappointed that this kind of movie, the “young-mother-with-a-child-is-in-danger-due-to-supernatural-forces” thing, is still being made, when it got old about five years ago. Maybe it’s because I just plain don’t like horror movies that much, which is too bad for me—they don’t seem to be going away any time soon.
