Is Vin Diesel Up To Play Vision In Avengers 2?

Now that Joss Whedon is official back on board to write and direct The Avengers sequel we can get down to the dirty business of casting rumors. While this is conjecture and hearsay of the highest order, but could Vin Diesel possibly play Vision in the second chapter of Marvel’s hottest property?

Here’s how little it takes to start a rumor these days. All that really happened is that Diesel changed the photo on his Facebook profile. Comic Book Therapy noticed that the Chronicles of Riddick actor posted a picture of the Vision, and, well, let the rampant speculation begin.

Created by the robot Ultron, Vision is a type of solar powered android, called a “synthezoid.” Originally intended to exact revenge on Avenger Henry Pym (Ant-Man), Vision was eventually convinced to shift allegiances and join the team. Over the years he has appeared in various incarnations, in various storylines, and as a part of different groups.

So, does this actually mean anything? Diesel is fond of using various social media platforms to disseminate information to his fans. In the recent past he has posted pictures and concept art from his long-gestating attempts to made a third Riddick movie. It’s not out of the realm of possibility that he could be dropping a hint. Then again, maybe he just likes the Vision.

Even if Diesel is going to play Vision sometime in the future, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll be in an Avengers movie. In the comics, Vision has appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy stories, and a few years ago, when Marvel announced they were going to make films out of some lesser known properties, Vision was named along with characters like Black Panther and Iron Fist.

What do you think? Would you like to see Diesel play the Vision? Do you think he could hang in an Avengers movie?
