Watch The Avengers Try To Lift Thor's Hammer In New Age Of Ultron Clip

It's been a day full of amazingly fun Marvel announcements, with the studio announcing their full slate of films between now and 2019, but we have one final treat to cap it all off. As we told you yesterday, tonight's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. featured a special clip from The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and now it has arrived online for your viewing pleasure:
Those of you who attended the Marvel Studios panel at San Diego Comic-Con this year will probably recognize this clip, as this was basically the footage that was shown then. As you can see, it features a friendly little competition between the Avengers teammates trying to lift up Thor's mystical hammer. Naturally, it doesn't go too well for them, simply because they just aren't worthy. The only one who actually comes close is Captain America - which does obviously make Thor a bit nervous, but ultimately his attempt is fruitless. This scene has actually been edited down from what was shown at Comic-Con, and in the movie there is actually another great bit where Bruce Banner tries to lift the hammer. You can read the details about the extended footage here.
As some of you may have noticed, however, the extended scene isn't the only new material that is shown in this spot. While the video that follows is almost exactly like the trailer that was released online last week, there are two moments that weren't actually included in that first look. Around the 1:19/1:20 mark you'll see a new shot of Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow as she watches something open up:
And then there's a shot of Black Widow looking at a tablet computer that has Loki's staff - containing its Infinity Stone - on display:
While it's hard to say what Black Widow is watching in that first image, Marvel fans who are paying attention will remember that Loki's staff is shown as being in HYDRA's possession at the end of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It's presence very likely has something to do with Wanda and Pietro Maximoff, better known as Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson). Feel free to speculate away in the comments!
Joss Whedon's The Avengers: Age of Ultron will be in theaters on May 1, 2015.
