Wedding Planners, Wedding Dates, Now Wedding Doctors

The problem with most movies that revolve around a wedding is they pick one of two endings-- either the wedding happens, or it doesn't. Even the smartest ones fall into this trap. So forgive me for not having a whole lot of hope for The Wedding Doctor, a romantic comedy screenplay from newcomer Jonathan Abrams that Relativity Media just optioned.

The Wedding Doctor, according to THR, is kind of like The Wedding Date or The Wedding Planner or those other movies about professional wedding somethings. Getting cold feet just a few days before her big day, a bride-to-be hires a "wedding doctor" to find out if her betrothed is the right man for her. But, oh no! The doctor decides he's the right guy for her instead!

Casting will tell us everything we need to know about how this ends. If the groom is the bigger star, he's the right one, but if the doctor gets top billing, well, watch out. Matthew McConaughey, on the other hand, is a wild card-- if he gets cast, the thing could go either way. Keep an eye on this one, or just wait until you see it, where you'll still have a 50-50 chance of guessing the ending.
