Lego Batman Has A Very Special New Year Message To Us

With January 1 finally upon us, some of you are likely getting started on your New Years resolutions, while others are possibly nursing a hangover. Regardless of your current state, we hope you had a fantastic New Years Eve. As it turns out, there's someone else who also hopes you enjoyed yourself last night: LEGO Batman. A new promo for The LEGO Batman Movie has debuted online, and it serves as a fantastic reminder that 2017 is going to be an amazing for all of us. Check it out below.

If you weren't already excited for The LEGO Batman Movie, then that promo should've done the trick. Despite the fact that Ben Affleck's solo Batman movie isn't set in stone at this point, we still have another version of The Dark Knight to look forward to. This February The LEGO Batman Movie will debut, and we will receive a film unlike anything we have ever seen from The Caped Crusader. It looks campy, it looks fun, and it looks like a perfect continuation/expansion of Will Arnett's character from The LEGO Movie. Beyond that, we simply cannot contain our excitement for Michael Cera's rambunctious and energetic Robin.

One of the most fantastic things to note about this promo is the fact that it actually is a parody of Baz Luhrmann's 2013 take on The Great Gatsby. The moment in which we see a LEGO Bruce Wayne turn around is a clear homage to the endlessly GIF-able scene in which Leonardo DiCaprio's Jay Gatsby raises his glass -- complete with fireworks in the background.

The Lego Batman Movie

Although that seems like a somewhat specific and bizarre thing to get excited about, it seemingly promises that The LEGO Batman Movie will parody more that the DC mythos. With not-so-subtle references like this defining the movie's promotional campaign, we can rest assured knowing that the final product of The LEGO Batman Movie will come packed to the brim with some cutting pop culture commentary. Just like The LEGO Movie, this is going to be a film that kids and adults alike will enjoy.

CinemaBlend will bring you any and all relevant updates related to The LEGO Batman Movie as more details are made available to us. The interlocking brick version of The Caped Crusader will take center stage in his solo movie on February 10, 2017.
