The First Thor: Ragnarok Trailer Features An Epic Showdown Between Hulk And Thor
With the returns of both the Guardians of the Galaxy and Spider-Man to the big screen, it really seems like our favorite Asgardian is getting the short of the stick. Nobody's really talking about Thor. That's going to change when you see the first trailer for Thor: Ragnarok. We've been looking forward to seeing what a new director and a new direction were going to do to the God of Thunder and we think you're going to like what you see. Check out the madness below.
Everything about this trailer makes Thor: Ragnarok look like it might be the best thing that Marvel has going this year. It opens with the apparent destruction of Thor's hammer and the destruction of Asgard by fire. That's pretty much exactly what Ragnarok is supposed to be, so we saw that coming. Still, while an opening like that could lead one to think that we're in for something dark and depressing, that's not what we have here. The rocking guitar of Led Zepplin's "Immigrant Song" never lets you believe for a moment that this movie isn't going to be about action.
From there, Thor ends up on his own and in the clutches of the Grandmaster, played exactly how we thought Jeff Goldblum would do it. Thor's imprisoned and put to work fighting in an arena for the entertainment of others. This, of course, leads to our first look at the other big member of the story, the big green guy.
Needless to say, this is not the same Thor that we have seen in his debut or in The Dark World. Everything about the tone feels different. We knew that when Taika Waititi was tapped to helm the new movie that we were going to get something that was a bit different. It isn't just the comedic bit at the end, where Thor rejoices at seeing his friend The Incredible Hulk, that makes this feel different. Everything here makes the new film feel like it's going to be fun and exciting. We're now really looking forward to the end of the year so we can watch Thor's third adventure. From everything we know about the story, this teaser is only showing us the beginning of the film, so there's plenty more where that came from. Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters November 3.
In addition to the new trailer, we also got the first poster for Thor: Ragnarok. Click over to page two to check it out.
