Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Has Screened, Here’s What Critics Think

It's been nearly three full years since Guardians of the Galaxy opened in theaters and took the world by storm, but moviegoers won't have to wait long to reunite with the eponymous superhero team. Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot will be back soon for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, sharing the big screen with plenty of familiar faces and a decent amount of new ones. While the public will have to wait a couple more weeks to see it in theaters, the sequel just finished a special screening, and the reactions from those in attendance are flying in now. We've collected some of these immediate thoughts below, and not to worry, there aren't any spoilers ahead.
First up, we have CinemaBlend's own Eric Eisenberg, who was incredibly pleased by Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's humor and how it continued to serve the main heroes well.
Next, Germain Lussier from io9 commended the movie for both its unexpectedness and emotional power.
Anna Klassen from Bustle enjoyed both how fun the movie was and, like the first Guardians of the Galaxy, how it had unique music.
Erik Davis from Fandango made the bold prediction that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will rise to the top of a lot people's favorite Marvel movies list.
Peter Sciretta of Slashfilm found Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 funnier than its predecessor, and inspired by one of the movie's leading characters, he threw in an "I am Groot."
However, not everyone was as taken in with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The Tracking Board's Jeff Sneider didn't consider it as good as the first movie, saying that the material doesn't feel fresh anymore.
Finally, Collider's Steve Weintraub used Amy Poehler to to accompany his support for the Guardians sequel.
These are just a few of the reactions that are coming in post-screening, but overall, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is receiving a lot of positive reception, so it sounds like Marvel has yet another hit on their hands.
