Who Two Of The Han Solo Movie’s Important Characters May Be

Harrison Ford as Han Solo

While we already know that Alden Ehrenreich will be portraying Han Solo in the upcoming prequel for the legendary intergalactic scoundrel, and that Donald Glover is Lando Calrissian, Joonas Suotamo is Chewbacca, and Woody Harrelson is Han Solo's mentor by the name of Beckett, we're still waiting for details on each of the other characters. It looks as though we might actually have some fresh information of this matter, because two new names from the Han Solo movie have reportedly emerged; one is reportedly for a new puppet while the other is for one of the female leads.

Just a quick warning. There obviously might be some SPOILERS ahead for the Han Solo film. At the moment these rumors are still unconfirmed, but if you want to head into the film completely void of information then you probably shouldn't read ahead.

The latest speculation surrounding the Han Solo movie is that it will include a character with the very Star Wars-y name of Mother Proxima, and then one that's rather disappointingly just called Val. Let's talk about Mother Proxima first, who is reportedly some kind of puppet that has been operated by David Chapman throughout its production. David Chapman is already a key member of the Star Wars family, having been one half of the two-man team that maneuvered BB-8 during The Force Awakens. So clearly he has the necessary skills to pay the bills.

But while David Chapman is operating Mother Proxima, Making Star Wars.net have reported that one of the actors that has already been cast in the film will voice it. Which means that it could be either Emilia Clarke, although that's very unlikely, Thandie Newton, Phoebe-Walker-Bridge, Michael K. Williams or Ian Kenny. My money would actually be on either Thandie Newton, Ian Kenny, or Michael K. Williams, as neither of them appeared in the only official image of the Han Solo movie, which was released to mark its first day of production back in February.

But what about Val? Well, it has been speculated that one of the top billing female characters will go by this name, and the other rumors swirling around the character is that she is involved in plenty of action sequences and stunt work. Unfortunately we're not quite sure which of the female leads is playing the character, which means that it is between Emilia Clarke, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Thandie Newton over who will go down in Star Wars folklore as Val.

We should finally learn if these characters definitely exist, and who is playing them, well before the still untitled Han Solo film is released on May 25, 2018. Before then the film's first port of call is surely to reveal what its actual title is, though. I'm still hoping it will be YOLO With Han Solo.
