Emilia Clarke Shares Video On The Set Of Han Solo, Complete With Chewbacca

When it comes to Star Wars mysteries, one of the most curious still lingering is the identity of the character played by Emilia Clarke in the upcoming Han Solo movie. Sadly, we still don't have the answer to that, but the actress is liberally sharing video from the set of the blockbuster - complete with a new look at young Chewbacca!

Disney and Lucasfilm haven't been sharing much in the way of official materials for the untitled Han Solo movie, so we've been forced to rely on social media for all of our early looks at the project. In recent weeks director Ron Howard has been very helpful on this front, giving us what is technically our first look at Donald Glover in costume as Lando Calrissian, but Emilia Clark apparently got some special permission so that she could celebrate an internet milestone with a bang.

It's a simple set up, but it's definitely good for a laugh. Emilia Clarke tells Chewbacca (presumably actor Joonas Suotamo) that she has 10 million followers on Instagram, and apparently this information is just too much to handle for the Wookie. After a scream, he starts to run back and forth - and after calming down a bit the new seems to inspires him to give Clarke a hug (something she's not too elated to receive). What happened after that? We have no idea, but we can assume that the Game of Thrones star is okay.

In case you've been living under a rock, the production of the Han Solo feature has been sailing rough seas in recent weeks, specifically with the departure of directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. The project was a subject that was essentially avoided during Disney's D23 expo earlier this month, and the whole situation has caused a bit of concern and a dip in expectations for the blockbuster. Of course, "Hope" has always been a key word in the Star Wars franchise, and it's nice to see that the stars of the movie are still having fun on set.

While the production period on the Han Solo movie is being extended due to the changes being made by Ron Howard, the plan is still to have the movie in theaters on May 25, 2018 (marking the first time that a Star Wars film has been a summer release since Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith in 2005). In addition to Emilia Clarke, the movie has collected a fantastic ensemble of actors, with Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, the aforementioned Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Woody Harrelson as Han's mentor, Beckett, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Michael K. Williams and Warwick Davis. It's a project that we've been keeping a very close eye on, and you can definitely expect that continue as we get closer and closer to the film's release date!
